Captured Light Distribution, the creators of “What the BLEEP Do We Know?!TM”, and the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), have created this Study Guide to be used by individuals and groups to maximize the personal benefit each viewer can receive from the film. The Guide is a free gift to fans of the movie. It is intended to help spread the value that is available by focusing on, understanding, integrating, and embodying many of the principles offered in the film.

Written, compiled, and edited by the IONS staff and other professionals, the Guide provides a framework for individuals and groups to explore, discuss, and deepen their involvement with “What the BLEEP’s” primary themes. It consists of five chapters –

1. Introduction and How to Use This Guide

2. Paradigm Shift

3. Quantum Reality

4. Creating Our Days

5. Healing the Past

Each chapter poses relevant questions, and offers a variety of possibilities to consider in response. In addition, there are individual and group activities and practices, pertinent quotations, and additional resources and bibliography.

The Institute Of Noetic Sciences

Matthew Gilbert

In 1971, Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell achieved the dream of a lifetime - space exploration and a mission to the moon. What he didn't anticipate was a return trip that triggered something even more powerful: a profound inner sense of universal connectedness. As he wrote of that experience:

"When I went to the moon, I was as pragmatic a test pilot, engineer, and scientist as any of my colleagues. But when I saw the planet Earth floating in the vastness of space...the presence of divinity became almost palpable, and I knew that life in the universe was not just an accident based on random processes."

That personal epiphany soon became Mitchell's next mission - "To broaden the knowledge of the nature and potentials of mind and consciousness, and to apply that knowledge to the enhancement of human well-being and the quality of life on the planet" - and in 1973 he founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS) to explore the relationship between our inner and outer worlds. Noetic, from the Greek word noetikos, means "inner/intuitive knowing."
